The Battle Creek Outdoor Education Center (OEC), also known as Clear Lake Camp, is a 175‑acre school camp on Clear Lake in Dowling, Michigan, offering day, residential, and outreach programs for all ages. A key part of its educational mission is the animal ambassador program, which integrates live animals into hands‑on learning experiences.

Role of Animal Ambassadors

Animal ambassadors are part of the OEC’s resources that instructors care for and use in programs. They include tortoises, snakes, frogs, fish, and raptors. These animals are central to science‑based activities, helping students connect with nature and learn about ecosystems, biology, and conservation.
