Local Poet Featured in Gwen Frostic Reading Series
Thursday, April 17th's Gwen Frostic Reading Series on the campus of Western Michigan University started with a moment of silence for Julie Moulds Rybicki who passed away April 8th after a 16 year battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The evening opened with Paula Nagle reading from her book, The Leper Compound. Julie's husband, poet John Rybicki, then read from his recent book, We Bed Down Into Water. Much of the poetry in his collection deals with Julie's cancer and his reading had the audience in tears at times, such as when he read Her Body Like a Lantern Next to Me. John chided himself for being so serious and read fun poems as well eliciting laughter from the crowded Little Theater. Rybicki and Nagle signed their work afterwords with wine, grapes, and cheese for everyone.

Orangeville Township service ending April 1st
While everyone at the library wishes it was an April Fool's joke, library service to all Orangeville Township residents ends on Tuesday, April 1st. The Orangeville Township Board, while in support of a new service contract with the Delton District Library, did not accept the contract offered by the library at $15,000 a year nor offer a contract to the library at a lower yearly cost.

To be clear, this is not a Delton District Library decision. It is an Orangeville Township Board decision.

Orangeville Township residents may pay the $35/year nonresident fee to continue service. Sorry, no MichiCards are available to nonresidents.
